Let the training begin!

It's official... I entered to run in the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon! That means 21.1 km, or 13.1 miles. I've always wanted to do one, and seriously there couldn't be a better time to train. As of tomorrow, (Monday, March 14th), it will mark two months until the night before the marathon on May 15th, 2011. That means exactly two months to train... it's gonna be slightly intense but I'm seriously more than ready for the challenge. :)

"The new course allows for increased capacity of Australia's largest and most prestigious Half Marathon. Sunday, May 15 will be the first time more than 10,000 runners will see Sydney harbourside icons such as the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Pyrmont Peninsula and Darling Harbour precinct from a different perspective."

a.k.a. LEGIT!

There's already 4 people from ihouse (where I live at) entered a.k.a. 4 training buddies, and counting... more people are signing up by the day it's awesome.

Katrina, Scott, and I ran our first *technical* run tonight... it was so good, I love running at night. Plus we went along the beach boardwalk and up by the lighthouse. I swear the ocean smells extra oceany at night. Had the community ipod on full force, and we did a solid 4.56 miles in 47 minutes, no stopping. Not bad, not bad at all for the first run of many! Our training sched is a mix of about 3 runs a week - one long leisure run, one shorter faster run, and one interval training/hills run. We'll throw in two days of cross-training/weights, and two days of rest.

It's only day one and I'm already feeling great. Updates to come.

To Health, Happiness, and Life-Fullfillment,
-Rachel Leigh
